Two De Soto schools locked down temporarily
September 17, 2008
Johnson County sheriff's deputies this morning locked down De Soto High School and Lexington Trails Middle School as a precautionary measure while they looked for an 18-year-old De Soto man after he reportedly threatened suicide, cut himself and left his home with a knife.
Master Deputy Tom Erickson said the schools were locked down for less than one half hour between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. today. There were no threats to the schools and the lock down was precautionary only, he said.
The teen was taken in by sheriff's deputies for a mental health evaluation and there are no criminal charges pending at this time, Erickson said.
