Keep bids low
February 7, 2008
This letter is in response to conversations I've had after writing a letter last month to The De Soto Explorer supporting the De Soto City Council's decision to award a bid to a local contractor for work on the new river front park.
I and everyone I talked to feel local contractors should be obligated to keep bids low when they know the council would like to award a bid to them.
Local contractors should remember there are city council elections every two years. If they take advantage of this council's generosity through high bids, those council members may not be re-elected to consider future bids.
