Girls quartet makes finals

In its first-ever performance singing barbershop, the De Soto High School junior girls quartet made it to the finals in the Heart of America Harmony Explosion Competition. The event was in February at Olathe East High School, and 68 quartets from middle and high schools throughout the area competed.
The winning quartets that placed above the De Soto girls were from Olathe East and Oak Grove, Mo. Members of the De Soto High School quartet are Allison Freund, tenor; Gretchyn Reeves, lead; Kenzie Thompson, baritone; and Jenna Hodges, bass. The group's song was, "Come on, Do the Locomotion."
